I've had the same on my 2013 Focus. There is another fix. If you look underneath the rear of the car just behind each rear wheel you should see a rubber bung in the bodywork. If you remove the bung loads of water should come out. You should also see some white wadding material - pull this material out.
Posted June 3, 2016. So my Mk2 Focus bonnet has suddenly become a !Removed! to open. I have managed to open it by putting pressure on the bonnet when turning the key. This has worked a couple of times and hopefully will again but I don't want to stay messing with it as it's not simple and takes a few goes. The mk2 focus has a fused 12v positive in the boot behind the drivers side panel in the boot, The mk6 fiesta also has this. Its for a 12v socket but would power an amp nicely. I know yours is a mk1 but it could have it, Great if it did. But if not, Then Id run the cable inside the car behind panels and through a grommet in the firewall, emjJy.
