This 35mm f/1.4 lens has superb optics, sharper at the largest apertures than Nikon's enduring classic 35mm f/1.4 AI-s, sharper than the 35mm f/1.8 DX and even a little sharper than Nikon's new $1,650 35mm f/1.4 G. It comes in versions to fit Nikon, Canon EOS and Sony/Maxxum. I'm testing the Nikon version here.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L mk2 MTF versus Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 MTF (Thank you, Roger Cicala, for giving us pixel-peepers the gift of OLAF!) Yes, Canon L lenses are known for having “that look”, a combination of beautiful colors, popping contrast, and buttery bokeh. But, the Tamron has a beautiful overall rendering of images, too!
The Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens appears large on the compact Sony A7 III camera body. That is because it is slightly longer than the original lens created for a DSLR body. It also closely resembles
3 days ago · In this review, I’ll take a look at one of the cheapest 35mm lenses available, the Pergear 35mm f/1.4. If you look at the current range of 35mm f/1.4 lenses, the name-brand options from Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc., are all at least $1000. When you want to save money, you’ll have no choice but to reach for third-party options, from Sigma and
The Canon 7D vs Nikon D300s In Shooting Concerts– The wide open aperture combined with great sharpness made the 35mm F/1.4 L a winner for concert shooting. Actually, it shot two concerts .
Canon's EF 35mm f/1.4 USM L costs around ÂŁ1120 and sports a silent focusing motor and professional grade weather resistant build quality, as well as a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4. Those in
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Wide Angle Lens for Canon SLR Cameras - White Box (New) (Bulk Packaging) (Renewed) $1,159 Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Wide Angle Lens for Canon SLR Cameras - White Box (New) (Bulk Packaging)
The Canon EF 24 f/1.4L II USM is a wide-angle lens that’s perfect for landscape and travel photography. It offers superb image quality and a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4, making it ideal for shooting in low light conditions. The lens also features a weather-resistant construction, which makes it ideal for shooting in inclement weather
A fact established earlier in the review is that the Sigma 35 f/1.4 has a 9-blade circular aperture. An example of the 18-pointed stars this lens creates from specular highlights was shown. The 8-bladed Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L aperture creates 8-pointed stars. Which number of points is better is up to your preference.
Now the 35L II is even better, optically and mechanically, and it's weather-sealed, but very pricey. The new lens is one of the best 35mm lenses by any manufacturer, possibly better than even Leica's current 35/1.4 (albeit much bigger/heavier). Reply Reply with quote Reply to thread Complain.

It is insanely sharp at every aperture from corner to corner, has great bokeh, gives magnificent sunstars and is the world's first and only stabilized professional 85mm lens. It adds image stabilization (IS) and fast autofocus, something not in any other 85mm f/1.4 or f/1.2. The old 85mm f/1.2 L II has no stabilization and very slow autofocus.
The Canon MkII recorded 2.3 stops darkening at F1.4, reducing to negligible at F2.8-4 which is very much on par for the spec, but perhaps surprisingly, it's actually slightly worse than the MkI, by about 0.3 stops at F1.4. Vignetting is easily corrected in post-processing, though many find the effect quite attractive.
But that’s only slightly larger, as this is a surprisingly compact and light lens for a high performing 50mm F1.4 optic. The AF 50II is 80.1mm (3.2″) in diameter and 88.9mm (3.5″) in length and weighs a very light 420g. That’s a full 20mm shorter than either Sony option, and about 360g lighter.
